I am a PhD candidate in Information and Decision Sciences (IDSC) at the Carlson School of Management (CSOM), University of Minnesota. Earlier I earned an MBA degree from CSOM, majoring in Finance and Information Systems (IS). Prior to joining the CSOM, I was awarded a Bachelor of Engineering (BE) degree in Computer Science and Technology by what is now Bengal Engineering and Science University (BESU), India. I have spent close to a decade in the information technology (IT) services industry, consulting in India, Singapore, the UK, and the USA on software development projects. During this time, apart from managing IT projects, I have also analyzed, designed, and coded information systems. My primary research interest lies in studying electronic market mechanisms such as electronic auctions. Currently, I am involved in designing feedback schemes for combinatorial and multidimensional bidding environments, with the objective of using IT to make these complex allocation and procurement mechanisms more transparent and user friendly. I use computer simulations and laboratory experiments to study the economic and behavioral implications of different types of feedback. I am also interested in studying innovative uses of IT in lowering healthcare costs in the United States. I have presented my research findings in major IS conferences, including the International Conference on Information Systems (ICIS), the Workshop on Information Technologies and Systems (WITS), the Workshop on Information Systems Economics (WISE), and the INFORMS Conference on Information Systems and Technology (CIST). I expect to graduate by June 2009. |
